The work I design is usually meant to make money for clients, but I always put my own heart and soul into it, and it’s really cool when I go into something with a certain outcome in mind, but it automatically takes on it’s own energy and creates surprising results. Certain projects don’t turn out as aesthetically pleasing as I’d like, but others turn out totally different than I’d planned, but much better than I’d anticipated. That’s the best.
Being a designer creates an interesting kind of self consciousness. It’s a little tricky to force myself to stop worrying that people won’t like it and judge my ability/sanity.
So, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone right now and showing my progress on re-branding my company.
Here is my current logo:
It’s served me well over the years, but I’m just ready for a change, so I’m changing the name to Good Koi. Good because, well, good is positive, and koi because that’s the little fishy that could. There’s a lot of symbolism of the koi being very strong and determined, and a story that tells of him becoming a powerful dragon after a difficult journey. It’s inspiring. Plus, I’m a Pisces, so on a soul level, there’s that much more to relate to.
